A keyword research helps you to have an idea of what words/phrases people are searching (on the internet) for to get products/services in your niche. It also helps you to know IF there are enough people on the internet who are interested in your niche. When you get these words and phrases, the next thing is to ensure that the content on your website is written to contain them in the right quantity. To carry out a keyword research, simply go to adwords.google.com. Then type in any phrase (for example one of your services) and your landing page. The results that are displayed will give you ideas of which words to use most on your website.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Idea 3: Fresh Content
Ensuring that the content on your website is fresh is an excellent way to promote its search engine optimization, SEO. Fresh content includes any piece of write-up that is unique, engaging and very original. If the content on your website is not fresh, search engines such as Google and the others will see it as duplicated content. That is NOT good for your website reputation. The way to escape this is to ensure that whoever is writing content for your website is not editing content from another website but is actually writing something fresh.

If someone writes something on another website and puts a link from your own website on what he’s written, the result is a “backlink”. The more of these links you have, the better your ranking, all other things being equal. Links from .edu and .gov websites are considered very valuable. Blogging is getting so popular these days. You can jump in the bandwagon by blogging on things that concern your business. And it’s best to do that on your domain. If the website has been built on a WordPress, it is quite easy. Otherwise, create blog.yourdomain on wordpress and start blogging with fresh content that is relevant to your industry. But work on your website developer to ensure that they move your entire website to a self hosted wordpress plan. Write posts that will ensure readership. This one is slightly different from writing a blog. There are a few ways it can happen. One of them is to ask a relatively popular news site or blog to report something about your business. It can be a milestone, an anniversary or something else that is interesting. It can be an exclusive report or just a mention. No matter what is done, they should send a link back to your website. Another way to do this is to actually write an interesting piece of content and instead of publishing it on your business blog, you solicit for it to be published on other people’s websites or blogs. This is also a great way to amass backlinks for your website and also to influence your online reputation management.

Writing articles or specialized content for your website is very important. But the content is not complete unless you have great headlines/titles that will attract the right kind of people. No matter how great your article is, if the title is bad, it might be jumped right on search engine results in favour of another article. The result is that you are losing valuable customers. This is not a repetition of the above. What you get from the above is a functional heading/title. But you have to also have SEO in mind while writing your title. A great heading is one which is both functional in that it is attractive to human readers and at the same time attractive to web robotic readers. For a search engine to rank a webpage, its robots also known as bots have to crawl the content, including the headings on the website. Your heading must therefore have the right length, have the keyword at the begining alonside other factors. I suggest you install the latest Yoast SEO tool on your blog. If you do a business that get clients via the internet, it is important to ask them how they got to know about you. This will help you to know what is working and what is not and how to improve. If they say they googled what you do and you popped up in the results, it is important to try and see if they remember the phrase they used. Then check that phrase to see how many more people are searching for it. The findings will help you to know whether or not to optimize pages on your website for the phrase.

Search results for videos has increased over the past few years. Video is now a major ranking factor and that is a good thing. If you can, great videos and post them on relevant pages on your website. It will support you SEO push big time. Create “how to” videos for topics in your niche. I see a lot of people take time to create a video and post it on Facebook. And then when you check their website, you won’t find it. That’s not wise. And you don’t need to have too much money to create a video nowadays. There are web based video creation applications you can make us of.
SEO Idea 13: Direct traffic to your website, not Google Forms/Facebook Fanpage
I made this mistake for many years. Facebook encourages business owners to promote their Fanpages so that more people can like the pages. Then, the more fans you had, the better your reach. In fact, if I remember correctly, you could promote an event with your fanpage and even send a message to all respondents. But all that is gone now. Now you have to spend money to reach people who are already your fans through the “boost post” feature.
If you ever run adverts on Facebook or any platform, direct the traffic to your website. Not Google Forms. You can install a plugin on your website and create great forms with it. This is important because traffic is a major ranking factor. It is therefore great for your search engine optimization, SEO.
SEO Idea 14: Social Juice
Having content being shared from your website to social media sites is considered a very important ranking factor. Therefore, have your web designer install a nice social media share plugin on your website. Then encourage people to use the share buttons when they visit. People liking and sharing the link when it gets to social media is also very important. If you belong to a club and can encourage your fellows there to share your content on social media, it will contribute to your SEO. You can boost the effect of this by contracting it to someone who can automate “liking” and sharing on social media. You can find a few of them on fiverr.
